Does Brown do anything with AP scores? Are they put on a transcript? Do they help to place you into higher level courses if you so choose? Trying to decide how to coach my accepted student as it regards several upcoming AP exams. Thanks!
They help place into more advanced courses. Intermediate Microeconomics, a course I want to take this fall, has pre-requisites of a 4 on AP Macro and Micro and a 4 on AP Calc AB.
My daughter had 8 AP exams and in her case (CS major), the only one that was useful was Calc AB. That gave her credit for one of the two required semesters of calculus.
These are the current guidelines:

It’s kind of confusing, but your daughter should look at some of her potential concentrations and their required courses and see if it looks like having an AP exam could be helpful in that case.
The score isn’t on your transcript but the course it replaces is
On another thread for APs at Brown someone said there are placement tests that Brown offers in the summer which you can take to place out of intro courses instead of AP exam scores? Is that true because I have not read about that on Brown’s website.
it’s only certain departments (e.g. math, chemistry). Probably can find the info on the departmental websites
@iwannabe_Brown So if she places out of Calculus, they put Calculus somewhere on her transcript with no score or grade? Thanks, everyone, for their comments.
@SkipWoosnam correct. My transcript (according to my old med school application) had MATH 0090 listed with the course title “AP Credit Equivalent to MATH 0090” and then under course type says “Advance Placement (AP)” course type was blank for everything except for APs and a class I took pass/fail
