Brown and Social Activism?

What’s Brown’s reputation for social activism? A cause I’m really involved in is helping the homeless of America, and I was wondering if I were to write my essay on this, would it fit well with the “Brown image”?

Three things stand out in your questions. 1) the fact that you don’t know of Brown’s expansive social activism is a cause of concern. 2) The essay should say something about you – it’s not a school report. If YOU’ve been touched by homelessness or its remedies, fine. But as simple a topic b/c it important to you-- may ring very hollow. You’re not asked to promote a topic, you’re asked to promote YOURSELF. 3) Don’t patronize them. Write sincerely about who you are.

Many moons ago, my “successful” Brown essay focused on how I betrayed a friend’s trust and the long path to winning back his trust and friendship. There was no “cause” – it was what was important to me as a 17 year old.

Ah, thanks for the advice @T26E4 and sorry for being misleading! My reason for posing the question was more to judge whether or not I would like Brown and not whether Brown would like me. For about a year and a half now, I’ve had my heart set on Swarthmore college and they are pretty known for their social activism which is why I was so attracted to that school. However, more recently I’ve realized a university is better suited for me and I just wanted to find one that had just as strong of an activist atmosphere.
