Brown Application finally out

I had a CV type document that I attached, if I remember right, and highlighted the main thing on the app itself.

Stay close with word limits. Remember-- you can always mail in additional materials they will be looked at.

Thanks everyone! I have my activities list in CV format but just put them in order of importance.

Just a question on the essays though. The only essay that they give a restriction on is the "free topic" essay. The other two look like they are supposed to be shorter, but how much shorter? I am typing the essays, so its kinda hard to tell what length is ok

Those were the essays when I applied 30 years ago ...

Some kids write longer essays, and get in. My daughter wrote long responses to the two short answer questions (400 and 225 words) and the recommended amount for the long essay (515 words). I have read compelling 700 word essays and boring 500 word essays. A long essay won't keep you from being admitted, but a long, boring one won't help. In general, the shorter the better.

For the activity sheet: My daughter grouped her activities by theme (i.e., journalism, environment) and then wrote a paragraph about each one explaining how she got interested, what she did, what she accomplished, and either what she learned or why she loved it. It was another opportunity for her to showcase her writing, and to show her enthusiasm and joy. This took up one side of a sheet of paper; on the other side was a more standard resume. She mailed this in, with some additional materials. Personally, when I look at long lists of activities my eyes glaze over -- I thought this approach was very effective.

Sorry if this is stupid but what is CV?

Curriculum Vitae, Latin for resume.

My essay is close to 700 words but I don't think it gets boring at any point... Thanks for the reassurance, sly.
