Brown Chances~ (Sry...If ppl c lots of dis)

Hiya~ Curious about my chances cuz counselors keep saying i should just give up -_-x

I go to a private school tats hard to get a 4.0+ GPA cuz A- = 3.7, B- = 2.7, etc.
And AP Courses dont give the 5.0 GPA tat some schools do~
I’m asian btw ^^

So wut do u guzy think my chances r? Low/Med?
I do noe Ivies r all random~
But am i a possible candidate cuz my counselors r just saying “impossible” (Not literally~ But they r persuading me not to apply and telling me to apply to more highly likely schools)
And THNKS ^^

I don't really believe your counselors told you that because doing so would be criminal (not literally, but you get my drift). Unless there is something you have chosen to not reveal here (for instance that you can not get positive recommendations from them, you have some sort of negative record), there is nothing here that would disqualify you from admission. AP scores?

If you forgive my momentary racial profiling, I will also point out that these chances are improved further if you are an URM.

Well...My counselors believe in the~
Apply to only 2 reaches and rest should be highly likely skoolz~
So they keep telling me to stop thinkin of these schools~

As for teacher recommendations~
I have teachers already who can write me very good recs~

As for college counselor recommendations~
I have no clue how they r writing it though i dont think i ever got onto their bad side~

As for negative records~
Never got expelled or suspended or anything like tat

Ah, I see you edited with responses. Nothing here totally jumps out at me, but at the same time all of it is very solid. I would go ahead and apply to Brown and any other reach you really want to pursue. There shouldn't be any hard and fast rules, you have achieved to the point where you should be competitive in admissions anywhere and you have a right to go after the schools that interest you.

And if APs are not weighted, how do you have a weighted and unweighted GPA?

Honors/AP's only give us a .3 boost~
Not the...A in AP gives us a 5.0 Haha~
My bad for makin tat not clear -_-x

Yeah...I think tats y the counselors were kinda against it~
I always thought nuthin was like O.O
But solid...I guess tats a good thing haha

I do have awards~
Like deans' list, awards for taking the national latin exam, but i thought it was minor -_-x

I would say put all your awards down. Ideally, it can't hurt, and you don't want to hide anything that might put you on top of another kid.

And I find it hard to believe that a counselor, no matter what th policy is, would tell a solid applicant like you not to reach so high. Counselors can really suck.

I hate to say it but I do think politics are involved with these school counselors sometimes. Of course you have a great chance-work on your essay's and your first quarter grades and really let them know why Brown is the best place for you. That's all you can do. Good Luck, don't let someone else tell you how to dream.... shoot for them moon and you'll land among the stars!!
