Brown Email

Browned emailed me a couple of weeks ago telling me that I was able to update them with recent achievements and awards. Did everyone receive this email?

I’m hoping it’s an indication that any achievements will bolster what I’ve already submitted.

Several people got similar e-mail. Why would they give opportunity to submit supplemental material if it didn’t matter?

WOAH?! How many people got this email? I didn’t get any. :(

…thats weird! maybe youre on the borderline

Didn’t get that e-mail. I think it sounds promising for you. Luck.

I got an email… I think it was the same email that said decisions would be released on the 1st at 7

nevermind… it was a different email that came in the middle of feb

What exactly does this mean? Are the people who haven’t gotten an email of the sort going to be rejected flat out? or…what?

This is an example of how some people go out of their way looking for something to worry about.

Can you say exactly what the e-mail said? I’m not sure if the one I have is the one you’re talking about, or if everyone got it.

^ Dude, maxxwell, chill out. No need to make sarcastic comments. It’s a pretty stressful time right now, and some people (including myself) are a little on edge.

I am in the same boat as you all.

Ok, well try to show a little empathy.

I just feel that people are reading too much into this email thing. Honestly, I feel that we got two chances to tell our story - once when we sent out the application and again sometime during mid February when most mid-year reports went out. If I had something extraordinary to report, would I wait for an email soliciting such input? No. So, there is no need to worry about this. In about 10 days or so we will know the results. So, why worry? Sorry, I didn’t mean to be sarcastic or hurt your feelings.

Ok. Thanks for clarifying. Sorry if I came off rude, I just misunderstood your post. :)

I don’t think this email would mean an automatic acceptance for anyone… It encouraged the students to whom it was addressed to submit additional information if they had any. How does that in any way convey an acceptance, or the possibility of one?

Agreed, if anything it might mean they’re curious about you, but not that you’re a shoo in.

I got an email on March 10, stating that I can log in to check my decision on April 1, but it seemed like a general email. I assumed everyone received this email. Was I wrong?

I too received the letter. It said:

We hope you’re enjoying your final term in high school and that 2010 is off to a good start for you. Our most important work of the year is well underway, as we’ll spend much of the winter and early spring reading your application and learning more about you and the other candidates who have included Brown among their college choices. We are pleased and honored that you have chosen to apply to Brown.

We are very aware of the effort you put into preparing your application and in arranging to have all your application materials sent to us, and we understand as well the effort you put into your high school career to enable you to move on to college. We know none of this is easy and we appreciate and acknowledge your hard work. With that in mind, we want you to know we will read your application as thoughtfully and thoroughly as we can, and we will consider carefully the talents and personal qualities that you will bring to the college you choose. As we consider your candidacy, we are looking always for reasons to offer you admission-not for reasons to say no.

So, please be assured that we will spend a great deal of time reading, thinking, and talking about you between now and April 1, which is when we will let you know our decision about your application. In the meantime, be in touch with us if you have any questions and, by all means, write to us if you wish to report new accomplishments since you submitted your application. Also, keep up the good work! Even as your high school career is approaching an end, there is much to do and much to learn.

You have very best wishes from all the members of the Brown Admission staff.

Dean of Admission
