Brown Emailed My Counselor?

Help! Brown emailed my counselor to ask for info pertaining to AP scores and grades from my online school, too! Does this mean anything except that they are currently looking at my application?

I think you already know what it means.

They are looking carefully at your application.
That in itself is good news - they took the time to call your counselor. Best of luck!

@AppAnxiety They did the same for me with regards to my grades for first term. Not that it indicates anything, but I was accepted ED.

By online school do you mean classes you take online through your school? Are they on your transcript?

@lax1997‌ That is so great! Congrats!
@VSGPeanut101‌ Thank you, that’s what I was thinking :slight_smile:
@justinn76 No, I am dual enrolled in an online high school where I have taken a few extra advanced courses my school does not offer.

Apparently they are curious about your application. They won’t use their precious time to search for counselor’s contact information and to call him to ‘praise’ your achievements- they do this with acceptance letter.

I think I read somewhere from college guidance book that when admission officers call counselor is that they want to check whether the materials(in your case they are AP scores) are really authentic. Maybe officers noticed that there was difference in grades between online degree and AP scores. For example, you got 5 on AP Calculus but received far lower grades on your Calculus online courses. I have absolutely no intention to demean your academic achievements, so you don’t need to take this example seriously. Please excuse my lack of expression.

Admission officers have to be through in their review, so they would have just wanted to check whether you have really much of academic ability as mentioned in APs. Apparently they have no one to ask but your counselor who would know a lot about you to ensure evaluation.

Hope it helped. Good luck on your application!

@kohwalsh‌ I actually found it interesting because I did not report that score at all and I did not take an AP Spanish class because my school does not offer it. I may have mentioned that I took the test independently in my interview or maybe it was in a rec letter? So I know it wasn’t a discrepancy between class grade and AP score because they never had the score to begin with! Thanks for your input! I am glad to have the perspective that the AO had to use their valuable time to get a hold of my school counselor.

Any interest in your App is good news. Celebrate the moment. Best wishes!
