<p>When you apply to Brown University for engineering (undergraduate), are you applying to their engineering department, the college in general, or to a specific program?</p>
<p>You are applying to the college in general. At Brown, you do not formally declare a major until sophomore year.</p>
<p>This was something that was attractive to my daughter. Although she intended to be an engineering major (and it looks as if she really will be one), the concern was “what if she changed her mind?” This and the Core was why she turned down Columbia engineering.</p>
