Hey, for those accepted to Brown and for those who received their FA package, how comparable was Brown’s FA calculator to your actual aid? I’m asking because, although I got a good FA package this year from Brown, my parents own a business and so our income fluctuates a lot, and I was using the calculator to get some estimates for future aid amounts. I appealed my FA this year, so my calculated aid doesn’t really do much for me. For those making $70k-100k, what was your expected EFC and what was Brown’s actual EFC? Again, I like my package this year, but I don’t want to get blindsided when my parents hit a new income bracket. Any input is greatly appreciate
MUCH more generous. My FAFSA EFC was 19684 and the NPC EFC was 46978. I got 57k in grants and I will pay 11k to go to Brown without any loans.
The NPC was way, way off for us. I knew it must be b/c it gave us nothing even though we are in the range you specified. We ended up with enough grants to just make it affordable (about 29K) and like you I am worried about future years. But I can at least tell you the NPC was not accurate at all.
