idk, that gpa is preeeeety low. also, you wouldnt be in the top 10% so that kills you too. it’s a shame - your app looks very good otherwise.

hopkins evaluates applicants holistically, so you may have a chance, but the gpa is a killer. GL!

PS why take ACT when you did well on the SAT? also, im really curious about that gpa… did you have a particularly bad year or semester? or were you just a little lazy? im wondering what school would be so hard as to keep a 2310 SAT student under a 3.6 uw gpa.

Indian kids [typically BME] tend to have the same test scores as yourself, but they have a much higher GPA. I think you’re a qualified candidate, but as the above poster said the GPA might keep you out. B/c of the whole “diversity” crap in college, some people like yourself get left out at schools like Hopkins, b/c you get beat by other indians.

Also I think worst case scenario your low GPA might come off to Hop as “he’s really brilliant, but really lazy/slacker, so he wont be successful here”

I wish you the best of luck, and advise that you come up with SOME reason for the low GPA. Also apply early if you think Hop is for you.

Oh, and don’t take the ACT, if you dont get a 35-36, it may hurt your very strong SAT score. Or feel free to take it, but dont send it unless its a 34-36 range.

Thanks for the input guys. I knew that my gpa would be my achilles’ heel. Do you have any suggestion how i can get “around” it somehow?Perhaps i should pepper up my essay with personal anecdotes about my volunteering experience? I know my recommendations are going to be great, but what else CAN i do?
Help??..

Well, if your recommendation can highlight a potential reason for why your grades are low, then sure you might have a shot. If your rec from your counselor can express the sheer difficulty of getting A’s then perhaps you’ll be better. The only real way to be saved is if someone is able to sight reasons for your poor performance [ie. classes at your HS are overly difficult]

Just make the best of what you have thus far, and try to get A’s from here on out, perhaps a Mid-Term report with all A’s will help ?
