What would be a Brown Level of SAT 2 Scores? What would the accepted batch of brown students have in terms of SAT 2 Scores? Just want an approximate.

Would it be 700+, 750+ or just flat out 800s (which I know isnt true)

I'd love to know as well. I have 700s in my SAT2s and plan on retaking them!

retaking a good score is not really gonna do anything.

if i were to speculate the average for the whole class, my guess would be around 720.

But you need to learn to look beyond averages simply as its not a reliable factor and getting to the average means nothing, if you have a lot going for yourself, the sat score wont really make that big a difference. Thats why the average score is a 1400, while Harvard admits are regularly rejected. That said the reasong for Brown's "lower" average than some other schools would not be the consequence of its applicant pool as in the case of cornell, for example.

if i were an admission officer and i someone retaking good SAT 2's i would just think that this person has nothing else to do, since SAT 2's do not usually have a bearing on scholarships or anything like that. If you have a very good SAT 1 score, then retaking may make sense for scholarship purposes. This said the days where a 1500 will impress anyone outside that circle of nerds at your high school are gone.

It depends on the context of your application. For example, if you plan on concentrating in politics/history and receive a 720 in US History after taking the AP class, I would think that you should retake the exam. Not that a 720 is a bad score, but it doesn't hurt to demonstrate superior competency (780+)) in the subjects that you say you're particularly interested in.

If you're not so good in math and love humanities, a Math IC/Math IIC (can't remember, is a math subject test required?) score of 650 should be acceptable. For some reason I think that adcoms are slightly more forgiving of lower math than verbal/humanities scores.

Probably the best way to find the answer to your question is to look in the RD decision thread and see what SAT II scores accepted students had.

I got scores of 710 Math IC, 760 Math IIC and 730 Chemistry.

Should I retake if I know that I can get a 800?

naw, dd got in with 710-730 range. How would you 'know' you can get 800 since you didn't before?

Because it's definitely something in my capabilities.

I finished AP Calc this year and I'm amazing in math (a lot of math team competitions, like qualifying for the AIME...etc) ..etc.

I didnt study at all for any of the three exams. I know that I can prep up on them and ace them. (I hope.)

Granted, I was worried at the time as well when I was applying to college. But I got in and I only had two 700+ scores (710 Math IC, 750 Math IIC) out of about 6 tests. I had a couple mid 600's and two 690's. I remember getting a 550 on English, but I think I may have gotten above 600 on that, but I'm not sure.

The way they look at the scores is not like, "Oh, he got a 650 -- denied" whereas if one would have gotten a 660 he would be accepted. They just need to make sure you're not a moron and have scores that are in a normal range. If anything, the number of tests might make a difference because that shows more well-roundedness, or something like that.

Yeah, don't sweat them too much. My top three SATII's were above a 700, but two of them were history ones, so if they wanted to look at different subjects, my other scores were...actually kind of terrible compared to the rest of my application. Don't worry about it.

haha AIME isn't REALLY amazing.

Amazing is doing 3-variable differential equations calculus in your head.

accepted as a transfer with 3x800 :/

The time would be better spent elsewhere. They won't be that much more impressed. Go on a three month walkabout instead. That is guaranteed to hook them.

<bull> bout to say the same thing...lol</bull>

Penn's average SAT II score for this year's class was a 720. So, for Brown, 720 is a good ballpark figure for your SAT II scores (obviously, many people score lower, and many score higher).

Legendofmax here For Brown I'd say at least a 700 average would do it. A higher average though certainly won't hurt you.
