Hello,
I have narrowed down my options to Brown and MIT. I plan to go to CPW at MIT and ADOCH at Brown. I think the overnight experience at both colleges will be enough to make my decision, but in the mean time does anyone have any advice?

Other notes:
-I plan to double major in Physics and Mathematics ( and maybe study some chem in my free time!).
-Still waiting on financial aid.
-I live in MA and my house is equidistant from both universities.

You plan to major in Physics and Math? MIT is probably the stronger option

You would need an exceptional reason to turn down MIT for math and physics.

One of the students I advise likes the social atmosphere of Brown over Penn and MIT. She went to the preview on Monday and says that she is excited by that aspect of it despite knowing that for most of STEM, MIT is stronger. An advisee of a colleague of mine was admitted to MIT, Penn, Brown and Duke but is leaning towards Penn for what he perceives as a better social atmosphere and what he describes as a less entitled student body, compared to Brown. Apparently he worries also about not having a strong enough STEM background for MIT and thinks he will compare favorably to the legacies at Penn. So they provide some protection from being at the bottom of the class. He feels that would be true of Brown as well but he thinks that the achievement levels of Brown faculty and students don’t compare to those of Penn in STEM. Funny how student develop these ideas and they stick to them even though there is not necessarily any hard evidence to support them.
