What is the music scene like at Brown? How about athletics–does social life revolve around sports? How would you describe the people? Are there many eclectic or even eccentric people there, or are they more clean cut/normal (I know that is a stereotype but it’s the easiest way to get across what I mean)?

You’ll find a lot of threads on these issues with a bit of searching – perhaps others with a bit more time (law school exams FTW) can find a few to link to them.

To answer quickly though:

The social scene is extremely diverse, with a lot of different sorts of things to do on a typical weekend night and plenty of fun during the week, too. This diversity was something I loved about Brown, and something I noted an absence of when visiting friends at some other schools. The one thing Brown doesn’t have is a big city surrounding it, so there isn’t a different club to go out to every night. I think the frats, etc., do a good job making up for this, though.

Brown students are pretty diverse in terms of quirkiness. I think most people find a crowd they can fit in with.

There is very little attention paid to sports at Brown, although that seems to be changing a bit.
