Chance at Brown, U.Penn(Wharton), Stanford, U.Chicago, and NYU Stern?

Brown, Penn, Stanford - Great Chances

UChicago - Match

NYU Stern - Safe Match

nyu - excellent chance
uchicago - great chance
penn - good chance
brown/stanford - reach

Stanford's a reach -- you don't have any leaderships, anything that would show initiative or strength of social character, etc. That'd hurt you the most. If you did have leadership positions, then whether or not you get in would be dependent on your essays.

Penn: reach
UChic: match (maybe a slight reach)
NYU: match

I definitely think I had good, perhaps not awesome, essays. 2/3 people who responded to this thread said that I had "great" chances at U.Penn Wharton. That's kind of funny because I've been told on many occasions that my lack of leadership will almost definitely result in a rejection. Thanks again for your feedback, everyone.

bump bump bump

average sat scores, average gpa, and typical ecs.

maybe even a bit below average considering wharton, stanford applicant pools.

i would say reach for all 3.

bump bump bump it up

Your extracurriculars are on the weak side for Wharton, especially since you're from NY.

Good chances for Chicago and NYU, however.

nyu - reach
uchicago - reach
penn - reach
brown/stanford - reach
Boise State- match

Brown: reach (due to GPA)
U.Penn(Wharton): reach (due to GPA/SAT/ECs)
Stanford: ditto as above
U.Chicago: slight reach
NYU Stern: slight reach

You need some safety schools. What's your rank?

Umm...I didn't expect that all of these schools would be reaches. And you mean to tell me a 1540/1600 or 2230/2400 is low for Wharton?!?!?

Ugh...what does it take to get into each of these schools, what am I lacking, and where do my strengths make it a good possibility to get into one of these schools?

Can someone give me some Positive feedback as well?

you never stated wharton in your topics :P its completely different, Wharton requires a CRAPLOAD more out of you

hopeful2007, you have to give us an idea of where you stand within the rest of your class. what's your class rank? simply saying you have a 3.7 UW tells us nothing.

lol Wharton is the cream of the crop for business schools where all the elite students apply. The kids who get in usually have 4.0's and 2300+. If u applied ED to wharton then ur chances woulda been alot better because a kid form my school 4.0 uw 4.4 weighted and a 2290 got in ED to Wharton, but then again, his stats are close to the high pre requisite established to get into the best business school in the entire country.

my rank is about top 6% out of a class of 480

Hey man,

Relax. I have a 2390 and I am the valedictorian and I still think Wharton is a reach for me. It is a tough school to get in. Besides, if you want to go to Wharton, ED is almost a must.

i have two friends who got in early. they wern't amazing
