Brown Supplement is out!

Hop to it people!

Could you send me the link please :)

Finally! I’ll let my S know. Looks like about as much writing as Stanford requires, which won’t be a thrill . He’s a science guy but can write well when he puts his mind to it, which isn’t easy in late summer mode. Maybe he’ll get energized since water polo practice began today.

IMHO, I think the schools that require MORE writing should have their supplements ready to rock and roll when the Common App comes out in early July.

KD:

Just go on the Common Application site and click on Brown.

YESSS! Finally. :)

lol woohoo

FINDAPLACE: Exactly! Hence, I was grateful to Princeton and U Chicago for putting out their supplements early.

Thanks Guys…The suspense was killing me ;)

You guys are freakin ridiculous

Brown was the last Ivy supplement I wrote and the only Ivy I got into, so I really don’t think you guys should feel any hurry to get this done before you grow, even a little bit more, as a writer, because there really isn’t any correlation between getting it done the fastest and acceptance rates, all things equal.

Take it easy. Enjoy your summer. Write your stuff as a first semester Senior, not as a rising Senior.

Awww man, it changed from last year’s. I don’t like the 1000 char limits :(

I’d appreciate it if someone could copy and paste the essay questions here. I’m not an applicant, but a longtime alumni interviewer, and it would be helpful for me to know the prompts. Thanks.

Here are the essays:

1000 characters each:
Please tell us more about your interest in Brown: Why does Brown appeal to you as a college option? Who or what has influenced your decision to apply?

Why are you drawn to the academic fields you indicated in the Anticipated Degree and Academic Interest questions above?

500 words or less (pick one):

 1. Tell us about an intellectual experience, project, class, or book that has influenced or inspired you.
 2. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given, and why?
 3. French novelist Anatole France wrote: “An education isn’t how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It’s being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don’t.” What don’t you know?

Thank you, dancer.

Interesting. Definitely some changes. I like option 3 (What don’t you know), not as happy with the changes in the short answers.

Works for some, not for all. I was required (by my school) to have finished a draft of my common app essay by the time senior fall began. If you normally cram your schedule full during school, it may be beneficial to get as much done now, as well. Take it easy, though, is good advice (which will be promptly ignored by most of the thread  ).

haha really people are excited for this?

Wow, it’s pretty different from last year’s.

Good luck :D

yeah it is. i like the third option though!
good luck guys :)

This will be fun :)

I’m going to be sticking with last year’s prompt for the long essay :D
