Brown Third World Welcome vs. A Day on College Hill

Hi everyone! I was accepted to Brown University for the class of 2015. I am extremely surprised and very excited!

I recently received an email from Brown that told me I could either visit during A Day on College Hill or Third World Welcome. Any thought on which is better? Which will give me the best opportunity to get a feel for what Brown is really like? I am Mexican but do not have a preference on what day I attend, whether it’s a day designed for minorities or a day for everyone. I really am simply interested in staying overnight, speaking with current and future students, and ultimately learning whether Brown is the place for me.

Thanks, guys!! : )

I’d go to ADOCH, just because it’s a bigger event and you’ll get a better perspective on Brown. I believe there are events for URMs that occur during ADOCH, as well.

D has not received her packet yet can you tell me what the dates are for each event?

ADOCH is April 11-13. I believe TWW is right after that, possibly the 13-14th?

Bruno14, what are URMs? and what makes you say ADOCH gives the better perspective? Just the fact that theres more people?

And ADOCH is April11 and12, TWW is April 12 and 13

Bella: URM are under-represented minorities. I believe that’s usually the focus of Third World Welcome.

Though I’ve been to neither (accepted ED), I’d go to ADOCH mostly because there are more people and more events going on.

You can attend both, D got an email today. ADOCH is 4/11-4/12 and TWW starts on 4/12 ends 4/13.

When you register for TWW they will match you with a host for all three days.

We are just trying to figure out if she can miss 3 days of school.
