I didn't get into Brown as a freshman this year. If I apply for transfer as a sophomore, do I have any chance of acceptance? I was thinking maybe since I didn't get in as a freshman, I wouldn't have any chance since, isn't transfer far more difficult? For freshman year, I will be attending UC Berkeley, Rice, or NYU.

No, the transfer admission rate is for Brown is actually higher than it is for freshman applicants. They take about 200 kids from approximately 7-800. Clearly, based on the admissions you mentioned above, you have a very strong high school GPA, as well as good test scores. If you do well at any of those schools, you will definitely stand a chance at gaining admission to Brown as a transfer. Coming from an esteemed institution can be very helpful for ivy transfers, and a good GPA at one, paired with a strong high school record is a winning combination. If you are unable to do it your freshman year, and your heart is still stuck on Brown, you can simply apply again for junior status. If you make certain that you do your research, and are able to create convincing reasons for your transfer, I think you stand a very, very good shot.

Word of warning: If you attend Rice for your first year, odds are you will fall in love with it and not apply to Brown:D
