So I am pretty torn between these schools and what I would be studying. My main question lies in which of these colleges has the best “college-life” feel and which school has the best academics in the fields as well as best job opportunities for after undergraduate. As far as majors: for Brown and Dartmouth it would be either Econ or Political Science, Georgetown Business or Political Science, and Cornell Business or Econ. I am an athlete with promising recruiting at these schools so let’s just assume that if I got into all of them which to choose. Really any thoughts or advice would help.
Best College feel?
Best Academics (in mentioned majors)?
Best Job Opportunities (in mentioned majors)?
A lot of these answers could be subjective. The “college feel” for you might be completely different for someone else. All of these schools will have their own individual vibe. For best academics, that really could depend on the environment you do best in. For instance, the very open curriculum at Brown could prove better for you than something like core-intensive Columbia (I know it’s not on your list, but just for argument’s sake). If you’re going for ranking, for Econ I know that Cornell outranks Brown by one spot, with your other schools farther down the list. But these rankings can easily be found on sites such as US News. Job opportunities can be found with a very quick Google search where you can even find average salaries, percentage that continue on to grad/law/med school, and so on. However, I can guarantee that having any of these schools’ names on a diploma will definitely not hurt your chances at getting a great job. Good luck!
Thanks for the advice bwulv24, I probably should have specified more by saying the traditional college feel versus something else like an nyu. Right now I’m pretty much just trying to get an internal ranking of which majors are best etc. for when I am going to actually have to choose sometime late fall.
Lucky you if you get these choices. Brown is campus oriented but the campus is in a small city on a hill a bit in its own bubble. Dartmouth is more isolated with the campus green sort of like the town square. Cornell is more isolated but a bit more going on in Ithaca. I don’t know much about Georgetown.
