I’m going to be a pre-med student with a possible minor in business/economics. Which school will be better for me?

That is an overly broad question without knowing more about you. Brown pre-med is excellent, as is, I’m sure Dartmouth. If, however, you decide you don’t want to go into medicine, I would give Dartmouth a slight edge if business is where you think you might want to end up. The presence of Tuck, and Dartmouth’s close-knit alumni network, particularly on Wall Street, may make it easier to segue into a lucrative business career.

Thanks! I’m a junior in high school just looking at colleges. I’m fairly certain I want to be a doctor, since both of my parents are doctors and I’ve volunteered at hospitals and shadowed doctors several times. I’m not interested in a pre-med program that’s heavily research-based, since I don’t want to do research in medicine.
I’m also interested in investing in business/stock markets, which explains my minor in business/economics. However, I’m certain I want to be a doctor and just to business on the side.

From what I know of the process (and I admit my knowledge is limited), research is an important part of getting into med school, even if you want to be a primary care doctor.

Brown does not have minors. And even if it did, wanting to buy stocks in the future would not really make sense as a justification for following a particular program of concentrated study. You’re going to have plenty of non-concentration class time to get a footing in things that you feel like you should know for life.

Also, pre-med is not a major.

if come med school application time you have a strong body of work and your goal is not research and thus not applying to research oriented med schools you don’t really need any. This conversation is so far in the future though it’s pretty meaningless, hell, OP isn’t even at the stage of applying to school’s yet, why do you need to decide between Brown and Dartmouth now? While we’re on the topic though, that answer is not going to cut it for “why do you want to be a doctor,” but again, you have at least 4 years to work on that.
