Georgetown does not have heavy use of TAs in lectures. TAs at Georgetown run the discussion sections or the lab sections (in conjunction with a laboratory professor). All Georgetown lectures are taught by professors. Upper level seminar courses are sometimes taught by a PhD candidate.

Georgetown has a very “work hard play hard” mentality. When you walk around Georgetown, you will typically hear some students speaking in various languages, especially in and around the Intercultural Center. Students like to talk about academics (as in, having intelligent discussion), and it’s great when you come from a public high school where this is discouraged by your peers. On the weekends, Georgetown has tons of parties on and off campus. The University also has What’s After Dark programming, which tries to provide alternatives to drinking activities at night, which is cool for those who don’t want to drink. They also host a dance party in the library called Club Lau, which is hilarious. GUGS, Georgetown University Grilling Society, grills throughout the warmer months, including midnight grilling sessions sometimes. Georgetown has a very active student body (walk through Red Square and you’ll see tons of flyers, chalking, tabling, etc.). I’d say the general student impression is that of studious, yet not outright nerdy, and someone that can forget all about studying for a day or two and have fun on the weekend.
