Brown vs. HYPS

Hey guys, I was wondering if the students at Brown are, on average, less smart and capable than the students at Yale, Princeton, Harvard, and Stanford... Any thoughts?

I'll chance you if you respond to this :)

On average, probably yes, just because of HYPS low acceptance rates and the fact that they can be extremely selective. But that doesn’t mean that Brown people are dumb. Of course not. Also, it even if its not as prestigious, Brown might fit some people better than HYPS. For example, they let you basically design your own major, which is awesome. :)

The fact that you’re asking this question shouts INSECURITY. If you get into Brown. Great. If you get into another school, Great. Why are you so focused on whether it’s equal in strangers’ eyes?

It tells me you may be lacking the self-awareness and confidence that scholars and viable applicants at Brown, H or Y really possess. Take USNWR and throw it in the trash.

This is like asking is Louvre less important than Sistine Chapel.

No. Students will be just as capable. Brown students would be able to survive at any of the other ivies just as HYPS students could survive at brown.

I’ll be honest, I am insecure about it. I’m sick of people bashing Brown and deeming it inferior to its other ivy league sister schools (Harvard, Yale, Columbia, UPenn).
I wish I could throw the USNWR in the trashcan…Brown is one of the best in the world and it would be nice if people acknowledge that just as they acknowledge HArvard as a global leader in education

You place WAY too much weight to what know-nothings think or feel or say.

Don’t worry about that. It doesn’t matter what the strangers think; the people who matter are your future employers. Brown will give you plenty of connections, name recognition, and a good base education! Don’t feel bad if you go there.

Sources: I might go there, even though it isn’t the most prestigious school that I might be accepted at. It’s just a better fit sometimes.
