Brown vs. Ivies Early Decision

I got into Penn, Georgetown and Tulane, but NOT Villanova...hmmmmm

I also chose between Vassar, Wesleyan, and Brown.

I made the right choice :)

What I notice though is that a large percentage of the people that say "Don't apply to Ivies just because they're Ivies... go to your best fit etc, don't go by prestige etc," are in fact people that attend Ivies O.o Meh.

Keep in mind that this post is on an Ivy League school's message board. Statistically, people who attend Brown University, an Ivy League school, are more likely to be here.

As someone said above, I didn't apply to Brown because it was an ivy. I applied to Brown because I liked it, and it happened to be an ivy. It was the only Ivy I was going to apply to.

And besides, can you blame the ivy-league students for wanting to fend off prestige-whores who aren't really passionate about the school? I don't want to go to college with people like that. Better for everyone if people find good fits.

Cornell is pretty damn random as well. Four kids went to high school with meet got into Columbia, but they were all rejected by Cornell. One person even applied to Cornell ED. I know quite a few people with great stats got into other ivies, but rejected by Cornell. The only school within Cornell is not so random is probably the Architecture college. You know if you have a chance or not when you submit your profolio.

Cornell's engineering program may be harder than the rest of its schools.

Cornell accepts 31%, has a 1280-1470 SAT range, and has 87% from the top 10% of their classes. Brown accepts 15%, has a 1290-1500 SAT range, and has 87% from the top as well. So, there is a bit of an SAT difference, but the real difference is the acceptance rate, which makes Brown crazier and weirder and harder to predict.

Stop hatin' on Cornell!

if you dont get into an ivy your parents will hate you forever

my friend is going to UMD and she asked her dad to put a sticker on his car and he was like "its not ivy league... im not putting it on my car"

and she was sad

ouch.. that's terrible..

LOL!!! MAN that is one of the funniest things I've heard this month! lol...

Wow...that father needs to get a life.

parents like that need to get...shot. but that was hilarious, if my dad said that to me, id prolly go and buy the biggest sticker and CRAZY GLUE it to the back of the trunk, not even the byumpers, or maybe the grill of the car. perhaps both. oh well...

This thread is so old…
