ranking ivies

This is my first post so bear with me if it has already been asked. How would you rank the ivies from easiest to hardest to get into from an applying early perspective, and would there be any changes to your rankings if you were to evaluate from regular decision instead of ed/ea.

(I use the term “easiest” loosely because I know that none of these schools are even remotely close to being easy to get into and I know that this can be like splitting hairs, but I was just wondering what some people’s thoughts were)

I’d follow the actual admission stats, to be honest. Anything else would be speculative BS.

Their acceptance rates are available on their sites. That gives you a ballpark.

ED/EA rates are sometimes higher than RD, but keep in mind that a big portion of that pool may be recruited athletes or other special situations.

Agree, use acceptance rates which are easily found online.

acceptance rates, and then since a lot of the acceptance rates are very close, I’d say to rank based on prospective program/major! for example, for agricultural sciences, Cornell is probably better than the other Ivy’s…and even though some say that Harvard is the “best” Ivy, it isn’t the best for engineering.

but then again…who is going to argue that Yale is worse than Harvard is worse than Dartmouth is worse than Princeton etc…

from “how hard to get in”, it’s pretty much a crapshoot though. you might get into Yale, but not any other Ivy! I’ve had many friends get into one crazy amazing school and then get rejected from all the other Ivys and even some match schools as well. so besides maybe Cornell, it’s very hard to say that one Ivy is “easier” than another RD, though ED/EA drastically depends on the school and the year. you never know when they’re going to change things up and surprise everyone!

good luck!!
