Someone once told me that the campus of Bryant College adjoined Brown’s current campus until the 1960’s at which time Bryant sold its real estate to Brown and relocated to the burbs.

Is this true?

If true: when did the transaction occur?

How much did Brown pay for the Bryant real estate?

What portion of Brown’s present campus is the former Bryant campus?

Was the transaction controversial (from the Brown point of view) when approved it?

I searched both the Brown and Bryant College websites for information regarding this but found nothing to prove that the Bryant to Brown sale occured.

it's true.
i'm not sure about a lot of the details, but it's not a very large amount of land. it is currently occupied by the music department (T.F. Green Hall, Grant Recital Hall, Fulton Rehearsal Hall, Morrison/Gerard Chamber Music Studios, and Steinert Practice Center)
i don't see why it would be controversial, it seems like a win-win situation to me.

Yes, Bryant was on Brown's campus. I'm not sure if it was Brown's business school or just two completely different schools. Then I believe some realllly rich guy I think he owned/owns tupperware donated millions and millions of dollars to build Bryan'ts campus which is about 15 minutes outside of providence. I'm not sure how much Bryant sold the property for.
