Sadly no. My parents were never married and he left a while ago so we have no contact
You’re a fantastic candidate! I can’t imagine what more you could have done to make yourself eligible for top colleges. Congratulations for all of your accomplishments, for having done so much in your young life, and for having been such a support to your mom. Those are all so meaningful and much more important than where you go to college.
Being brutally honest, I think that you have a great chance to get into any of the colleges you’ve listed, and I’m usually a pessimist on these things. AFAIK, Harvard is not a Questbridge partner although I think that the others are. So, I’d factor that in. You have safeties, so you seem to have that covered.
Please come back and let us know how you made out.
You will need to ask the colleges that want both parents’ finances for a waiver.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’ll definitely make sure to update back with any questions and tell you how I did in the application process.
You’re welcome. So impressive.
This is my understanding also. In my view, applying through Questbridge is a major advantage, if you qualify. Not only is it a guaranteed 4-year full scholarship, but you have the advantage of essentially applying to 12 schools ED simultaneously, whereas everyone else has to pick one. Good advice to be smart about your list and your preferred order of matches.
I interviewed a QB student this year whom I liked very much. When I saw her application was withdrawn after the ED round, I sent her a note. She did not match at my school which had been her first choice, but matched at another top school. She was very happy.
