I previously posted this for american university, but I'm most likely going to visit these schools within the next two weeks, although I'm not sure my scores are good enough yet. I will be retaking of course, but opinions would be fabulous. :)

I'm a little concerned because I'm very interested in American University and I even plan to visit this summer. Judging from their acceptance rate and 50% SAT scores, I thought it would be a really good match for me and that I had a good chance of getting in, but I saw a few other threads about how American is getting more selective and everything so now I don't feel as confident about getting in.

I'm a white female and I got to a public school.
My SAT scores are decent, but my math isn't great.
CR- 720
W- 630
M- 590
I definately plan on retaking them one more time and doing much better in writing and math.
On the ACT I got a 28. (also retaking for a 31 hopefully)

GPA- 4.0
weighted- 4.5
rank- 30 out of 280 (it will improve after the first quarter of my senior year)

My one concern is that my school does not offer any honors courses and very few AP's, so my courseload isn't that challenging compared to other schools, but I did take every advanced course I could. (Trig, AP Euro, Spanish 4, etc.)
I took 3 AP tests, 2 were self studied.
Euro History- 3
American History- 3
U.S. government and politics- 4

I'm currently taking two colleges classes at wilkes university and I will be in dual enrollment during my senior year as well.

EC's
I began and I am the president of the Young Democrats Club at my school.
Diversity Club
Newspaper columnist
Literary Magazine
Speech and Debate

other honors and activities:
member of the national junior honor society
AP scholar
organized a voter registration drive at my school
volunteer at my church all the time
volunteer at the library twice a week
etc.
I'm not going to list absolutely everything because I think you get the jist. I'm thinking of taking the politically active angle. I want to major in political science/international studies, so I wanted to emphasis how active I am in my community as far as campaigning for specific candidates and writing editorials.
