Yay, I got my italics in the right place (took 3 tries).
Sort of dawned on me that I wont be with my kid when they get their college responses. Gah…
No March break, @jdewey? For my kid who was waiting on quite a few March decisions, they pretty much all came during the 3 week break from school.
Fwiw, my kid didn’t want us there when he got his responses. Preferred to process it on his own and report back…
ChoatieKid was accepted EA in January to his FC civilian college, but The BFE to West Point was delivered to our house in early February. He had been notified of the appointment, but DH delivered the BFE on his next trip out to Hartford (the following week) and video’d him opening it. I’ve never seen a kid so over the moon. I do wish I could have been there. After that, he pulled all his remaining apps, so we’ll never know what those decisions were. Didn’t matter.
To all those waiting, best of luck. It’ll be over before you know it.
Am I the only one that had to Google “BFE”?
For 7D1, I think Carnegie Mellon put a message on their BFE to the effect of “This is the good envelope.” or something similar. Pretty funny.
Best wishes to all the class of 2018s and their parents who are waiting for news in the coming weeks.
I did, since how I use the term made no grammatical sense in the context of @ChoatieMom 's sentences.
@skieurope: I figured she wasn’t using one of the Urban Dictionary definitions…
I am happy to report that both my children now have a good option for college. There are many more decisions to come, but we can relax.
Fantastic! Great news, @twinsmama!
@twinsmama YAY!!!
Sorry, Big Fat Envelope. An appointment certificate is tucked into one of those thick diploma folders and packaged in a very sturdy corrugated shipping envelope. No mistaking it. They are sometimes delivered to BFE, though.
Double congrats, @twinsmama!
Congratulations @twinsmama! <:-P <:-P
Congratulations @twinsmama!
@twinsmama Congratulations to you and to your twins!!
Ok… adorable newbie question. But don’t the BFE’s go to their boarding school? Or does the snail mail come to our house?
…yes @doschicos there’s an (early) big march break but I think maybe the expected notifications are after the break… but don’t they really find out through portals nowadays? Congratss @twinsmama
@jdewey Depends on what address they put down. I think I applied with a temporary address (school) and put home as my permanent residence.
My kids handled the mail thing differently. 7D1 had snail mail sent to the house (which I probably suggested, since it’s the more “permanent” of her addresses at the time).
7D2 didn’t even ask me (or her mom, to my knowledge) and had her info sent directly to the school. I hope she remembers to change that before she graduates!
Congrats twinsmama!
