Unfortunately this is not helping my anxiety :-S
Fingers cross for you, @buuzn03!
When the contract came each of CK’s first two years, I asked him if he wanted to stay or come home as it was up to him to decide but we had to know because the contract was due. The second year, with panic in his voice, he said, “Mom, why do you ask me that? Is there even a possibility I’ll have to come home?” I reassured him that I was asking just to make sure he was staying because he wanted to and not because he thought he had to. He said, “Please–never ask me that again.” OK! OK!
His third year, I wrote the check on the wrong account and got an alert from the bank that our household account had been drained and they would not cover the check. I almost had a heart attack. Good times. Thanks for making me think about contracts.
Fingers crossed here, too, @buuzn03.
@buuzn03 we haven’t even done our FA paperwork yet it isn’t due until the 15th for returning students. We already did the contract. On our 8+ years of kids attending- the award have been pretty consistent unless there was a dramatic shift in income. Even then, you can appeal. We usually don’t end up making a payment in May, they have us doubly up in June.
@ChoatieMom We ask this question too, and we make the related comment that CaliKid can always opt to go to school near home, because teenagers–at least mine–find things to complain about at school. I recently promised to stop asking.
@buuzn03 I don’t know the FA timeline at my kiddo’s school, but I note that the enrollment agreement we signed states that any FA will be accounted for later.
Thanks @CaliPops @vegas1 That’s our concern (FA) because DH started a business and the accountant he got filed it so all revenue was reported as his income, even though he didn’t even see a tiny fraction. We have plenty of receipts/invoices/documents to show all of it was put into the business, but we got taxed on it…so let’s add insult to injury because we had to borrow money to pay the IRS. We are now absolutely drained and worried even more than ever how we are going to get him through this year. Luckily, we have a new accountant who’s fixed it all for 2018, but this has been a huge hit.
@buuzn03 That is a pretty big mistake for the CPA to have made! OMG - that would double or triple our income and our taxes. Can you submit a revised return? This is out of my box but hoping everything works out for you.
Call on Monday, @buuzn03, and inquire about expected timing.
@doschicos DH called Friday & had to leave a message. The weekly updates from the school have said they’re going out in waves since mid-March. I keep telling myself since he’s a III Form and we are at the end of the alphabet we will be last. It is what keeps me sane. Lol. @chemmchimney way out of my wheelhouse, too, but it seems all of the repairs will not have an effect until Q3 of this year. It’s just nauseating.
Just thinking that all of you are coming up on the end of the first year. Doesn’t it feel like forever ago that you were finalizing decisions and sweating the details?. Not to say that there won’t be new challenges and questions, but that those of last year are so far behind you that they’re not even visible in the rear view mirror. …
I agree with @doschicos . Follow up on your DH’s message and call the business office of the school tomorrow.
Update…a brief conversation with the harried admissions office indicated that reenrollment contracts are going out electronically as we speak, since last week and we should be getting it “any time now”. No indication of FA changes could be made…sigh. Not sure it was really a ton of help but oh well…cocktail anyone!!! Oh wait—I’m working.
Sounds like you’re doing all you can. Fingers remain crossed for you.
Thanks @CaliPops !!!

The call finally came. We lost all FA. What I didn’t realize was pulling Buuznkid2 out of the LDS did more damage than anything. Of course, the school she’s in now is much much better, but it is part of the public system. Now we have to choose between the public Jr high (no FA), LDS (possible FA) or JBS (no way unless we get FA). In any case, it doesn’t matter for this year…we are scrambling trying to find a way to make up the difference.
So sorry, @buuzn03. Sounds really stressful.
Very sorry to hear, @buuzn03.
Thanks, everyone…it’s actually a better feeling that we know something now, even though its worst case scenario. We will figure it out. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep him there!
