There’s very little info on the forum about this undergraduate major within this school. I have questions for anyone in the know and kind enough to answer. What is the significance of the fact that the Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality is housed within the School of Professional Studies? It looks like the location is set apart from the rest of NYU? Are student housing options different because of the location? Can you still choose to cross-minor in a program offered at one of the other schools? Are admission standards different? Are student profiles different? Is it considered “less than” to attend SPS to study hotel/hospitality management? Anyone? Thanks so much.
I don’t know about the specifics of the program itself that you are asking, but SPS is only a few blocks away from the “main” part of campus (which given the urban setting is really no big deal). If you are admitted as a traditional undergraduate you will have the same options for housing as any other. If things go back to normal as far as housing is concerned post Covid then as a freshman you will only have options among the freshman residences. Brittany is very close to SPS if you prefer that, but really a few blocks walk to the others is nothing to worry about.
Thank you so much for your reply.
If there are any current students or applicants, I’d love to hear opinions on the hotel/hospitality program. What made you choose this program over other other hospitality schools such as BU SHA? Thanks.
