BS in psych jobs

I am currently a junior psychology student. I am beginning to take a hard look into my job opportunities after I graduate. I have heard that jobs are very very scarce and don't pay very well with just a Bachelor's. I have been focusing on research experience to get into grad school and have good grades. I am also applying for summer research programs.

I just want to hear about other people's experiences on getting a BS in psychology. I'm pretty much done with all of my major classes and I love psychology so it's too late to change majors. If I minor in something, it may be too late to apply, and it will also delay my graduation by a semester or two.

I want to go to graduate school for a phd but I need to know that once I graduate I will have a well paying (decent) job that I can support myself and my future family with.

My interests include biopsychology and perception. I have considered a phd in behavioral neuroscience but I read those jobs are very hard to find even in academia..or a phd in clinical but I have heard that it may not be worth it because MFT's or LCSW's are preferred for the jobs, which are also possibilities. Becoming a clinical neuropsychologist and working in the medical field seems interesting but I have no idea about job prospects for that.

I could also go into something completely unrelated to psychology for grad school but honestly I never really thought about leaving my field so I have no idea what I would go into.

Any advice on how to prepare myself for grad school/ real world jobs (with a BS) / good careers paths in psychology would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, this. I really wish psychology weren’t so awesome (or, perhaps, were more awesome); after the amazing time I’ll have learning it, it’ll be epically hard to do anything further.

Psychology is an extremely popular major and the demand for psychologists is not extremely high. Graduating with a BS means you probably won’t be able to work in your field. So it’d either PhD or “at least you got the degree”.

In clinical or another applied field (like I&O), you’ll increase your employability the most. Since 2010, market’s bedn growing. Median salary is around 65k and you’ll enjoy what is generally found to be a pretty satisfying job.
