Hi I'm thinking about transferring to either UC Berkeley or UCLA for psychology and was just curious about career opportunities. My dream is to attend graduate school for clinical psych and I know that a PhD can really open some doors. How is the career world with just a BA? Are most of you motivated to go further, maybe get a PhD to secure a steady and rewarding job? This is just my rough plan, please give me any advice thanks!

Wow thanks so much, that is incredibly informative!

Those stats also give me hope! Apparently many psych majors find good jobs and plenty of others go on to graduate school or even medical school.

Why does this major get such a bad wrap?
Everyone says a psychology major is pointless if you just stop there, but it looks like many psych majors find good steady jobs with decent salaries. I want to do grad school anyway so win win :)

Well only 32% of the graduates responded to the survey (pretty much the same for most majors). Just take that into consideration!

True… but I still think other 68% can’t be doing that bad. Or maybe they’re not doing as great as the ones who responded… Either way I feel like I would be in the 32% after earning a BA. I feel like that 32% represents individuals motivated to find good work/continue schooling. That’s where I want to end up.
