BS MD and regular school

This might be a stupid question(s), but is it possible to apply to both the BS MD program and just the university as a whole? Is it possible to not be accepted into a BS-MD program, but get accepted into the university as a regular student (possibly with merit aid)?

It depends on the school. For example at Boston University if you apply to the BA/MD program and are denied you are not considered for regular BA admission. Check each school’s website.

@blue1223 Yes with few caveats. Even if you are not accepted for BS/MD programs, you can get admission for BS. B

  1. Some schools, explicitly expect you to apply to program. Boston is of that category. But once they inform that you are not selected for BS/MD (which may happen around Jan-Mar), you can notify to consider for UG. My D got admission in 2016 cycle. But chances are nil for merit aid.
  2. Some schools, inform you update if you are still interested for UG (after BS/MD rejection) like Case . Also still they will consider and give merit aid (CWRU gives any where from 20 to 27k/ year). My D got $25k.
  3. Some schools automatically consider (no action needed). But if they feel you have high chances for BS/MD at other programs, to protect their yield, deny UG admission. Northwestern and Wash U falls into this category.
  4. All other BS/MD programs nothing to worry about this situation.

some colleges admit student as regular UG first and move on to BS/MD admission process
