Basically, all of them ask why you want to be in medicine, passion, experience, etc..
I originally made one essay that ecompasses all of this and some humor, and my friend who got accepted in to the University of Miami HPME Program said it was amazing.
I then gave that same essay to my friend at SLU, and he completely ripped it apart by calling it too funny and advising me heavily to make it a lot more serious.

What type of approach should I take? Does anyone with some experience with these elite programs (Rice/Baylor, HPME (NW and Miami), PLME, etc..) mind reading my essays? I would really appreciate a third opinion.

I can have my teacher read your essay. She works at the Brody School of Medicine which has a similar program. Just PM me your essay if you would like that (it may take a week or so to hear back about it though).

I’ll read it too if you need another opinion, just PM it to me. The whole humor or serious thing really depends on the school and the admissions guy. You asked your friends for their objective opinions (yeah, that’s redundant) and they’re not the school.

Also, I can’t imagine you can put much humor into an essay like this.
