I just want to ask some suggestions or advice regarding my current situation. I am a fresh high school graduate and an incoming undergraduate college student. I am completely thorn between two choices, bs physics and mechanical engineering.
I really love studying physics, theoretically rather than applied, and my plan is to specialize in astronomy after graduating and be an astrophysicist, my dream job. But the thing is, they say that physicists often end up as professors or have less job opportunities compared to mechanical engineering.
So practicality over passion, I considered mech eng as another option, since it is mostly related to physics. I think I can learn to love it in the future. And my dad wants me to take a course with a board exam.
So what do you think should I choose? I’m afraid that if i choose physics, I may not have a high paying job but if I choose mech eng, I won’t love what I do and not excel. Help please Thanks
