Double major or BS in Physics or BS in Mechanical Engineering dilemma.

I am in a really tough dilemma.

I completely love physics and want to be an astrophysicist. I will then pursue astronomy. The only downside to this is the limited job offers and the minuscule salary.

Mechanical engineering is ok for me. I like it, but I don’t love it. The jobs are great. The pay is great as well.

Should I double major in Physics and Mechanical Engineering and minor in Computer Science
or
Should I double major in Physics and Computer Science and minor in Mechanical Engineering
or
Should I double major in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering and minor in Physics
or
Should I double major in Engineering Physics and Mechanical Engineering and minor in Computer Science

Note: Computer Science is ok for me as well. I like Mechanical Engineering better though.
Order of Interest: Physics, Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science.

Which combination of : Physics, Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science will offer me the most job options and the highest pay.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

This seems like an easy combination,
Should I double major in Physics and Mechanical Engineering and minor in Computer Science

What is the difference between Physics and Engineering Physics. Doesn’t Engineering physics get paid more than just physics.

Instead of double majoring in physics and Mechanical Engineering, what about double majoring in Engineering Physics and Mechanical Engineering.

Are into engineering? or are you doing just for the salary?

There aren’t enough hours in the day to do any of the combinations you’ve listed.

I know that double majoring can be a killer, but I am up for it. I believe my passion and fascination would take the stress out of engineering physics major, and leave stress only for a mech. engineering major and a comp. sci. minor.

I want something that I love and have a lot of job openings. Is that too much to ask for?

Why don’t you go to a school that makes it possible to double in Mechanical and physics and then decide which path you would like to pursue once you’re enrolled? Be sure to select a university that has more than just one or two sections of things like Thermodynamics, intro to engineering, etc.

what about nuclear engineering? Its impossible to do two majors based on engineer.

Thank you @whenhen
How does LMU sound for double in Mech and Physics and minor for Comp. Sci.

I’m not that interested in nuclear engineering, but if they have a lot of job offers, then i will consider it.

What state do you live in? does the state college have all engineering programs?

I have no idea. I’ve only looked into LMU’s business and humanities programs. By the way, your plan sounds way too ambitious, but that’s ok. Plenty of high schoolers and incoming freshmen think they’re going to do it all and as they get more exposure to college academics, find that they inevitably end up winnowing down their academic interests.

@NASA2014
I live in CA - the silicon valley - the competition is INSANE over here.
What do you mean all engineering programs.

@whenhen
I hear that a lot, lol. I would most likely try to follow my goals, but I understand that I am new to this.

What do you mean all engineering programs.
does the school you’re looking at has 15 types of engineering?

@NASA2014
The school I am looking for has these engineering and science majors:

(LMU is the school)

Applied Mathematics, BS, BA
Biochemistry, BS
Biology, BS
Chemistry, BS
Civil Engineering, BSE (BS in Engineering)
Computer Science, BS
Electrical Engineering, BSE
Environmental Science, BS
Health and Human Sciences, BS
Mathematics, BA, BS
Mechanical Engineering, BSE
Physics or Engineering Physics, BS
Premedical and Other Health Professions Program

Can anyone tell me if I double major, should I take Physics or Engineering Physics as a major along with another engineering.

Why do you want to double major two different engineers?

So I can have a more job openings and physics is my passion and mech is for the jobs, but i like it.

Mechanical engineering with a minor in physics? Sounds better than doing a double major.

I want to do a computer science minor so I can open more career options
