For incoming students, BS require placement tests for math and languages. Any parents of current high schoolers have any thoughts about this process? Are placement tests distributed during the summer or late spring while kids are still in school?

I can’t remember when they arrived, but they weren’t a big deal. My daughter didn’t like her foreign language placement, so when she got to school she asked to go into a more advanced class. She’s gutsy and sometimes a little pig-headed. She did great, so if anything the placement was a little conservative which can be a good thing. But math placement was fine.

Agree with lemonade1. Tests in our case were not timed but no calculators, dictionaries, etc were allowed. Kid should just do their best and leave it at that…if they don’t know the answer, that is fine, just leave it blank.

The school will see how things shake out in the first week or two of class & if it is obvious that your child needs to be in a different section, they will make the change. We went through this & it was not a big deal.

Thanks for the replies. When do the schools typically send the placement tests to the kids? During the summer?

We received ours in the late spring for following year.
