Class Placement at BS

I'm getting way ahead of myself here because I probably did not even get in, considering how strong the application pool is for new uppers to Exeter, but how does the class placement go for kids? Do they push you back because they assume the curriculum at your school was worse or do they just let you choose. This is reference to someone wanting to take a higher level math, science, or foreign/classical language.

for my school we had to take a test over the summer for math and language placement

I believe that most schools offer placement tests for anyone seeking advanced placement.

Placement test yes, but most schools give you time to see if you are placed correctly. You sometimes must be pro-active and speak up for yourself. This goes for going up or down. My d has known students who have changed section as late as 2nd trimester when she seemed to be over her head.

They watch you and you must speak up.

Wouldn’t the teacher recs and ssat scores be used as indicators for appropriate placement?

no, every school teaches differently and the curriculums vary

and one test cant determine everything
