BSs with a Deerfield feel?

What are some boarding schools that are like Deerfield?

Check out Westminster.

I did. Yesterday, in fact, because I read in another CC thread it was alike to Deerfield, but I didn’t really like it. And besides, I would need to take the TOEFL, and I am not. You had think that they wouldn’t make it a requirement for people who have been attending an international school (all classes are in english, except, well, Spanish ^_^) for the last four years and a half.

Look into Taft and Kent if you’re interested in a school like Deerfield .

Please do your research carefully before you make a decision and dont rely on random posts from people that may not necessarily be well informed.

Deerfield is in a completely different category from Westminster Taft and Kent.

roseensemble - Would you elaborate on what attracts you to Deerfield? What attributes do you find appealing? That way posters can better help you.

Well, I don’t want to sway anyone to feel a certain way about any boarding schools. In my opinion Hotchkiss has a Deerfield feel and I think (I think) it’s a smaller community though.

If by feel you mean sporty, preppy schools with a close-knit family atmosphere, formal dress code, sit-down meals, and a beautiful campus, I nominate the school a two of my friends teach at: Episcopal. Of course, it’s just outside of Washington D.C. so it misses the Deerfield feel of being in the middle of nowhere… (I’m from Western MA originally, and I love it.)

Hotchkiss and DA are almost identically sized, have similar settings, culture, and low % day students. After revisits, my child was struck by how similar the two schools were.

IMO I think that all boarding schools have their own unique feel. But if you’re talking about similar feels, then it would make sense. My brother told us that the different feels he’s gotten determined the college he was going to go to. He said no two schools had the exact feel, but similar in ways.
