BU Email?

Hey! I sent in my enrollment deposit yesterday, and was wondering how long it will be before I receive the email with instructions on setting up an email account. Thanks!

BTW, I was accepted to SHA.

oh same with me. im so excited to have an email that says something@bu.edu =]

I was told that we won't get our email account until we get our housing assignment in July. I don't know if I can wait that long to get my housing!

No, you get it before then.

The new student FAQs state that "an email will be sent to you, containing the information to setup your BU email account."

Okay, maybe I made that quote up...but its really written in the FAQs.

and the countdown for facebook begins...

where is the new student faq on the site?

you have to sign into your applicant link

i did, but i still dont see them =/

its applicant link --> information for new students --> upper right corner --> FAQs

it's not one of the main choices so its hard to find

A word of caution about your bu.edu e-mail address: There are no rules governing your choice of name. Please think before you choose one. Remember your professors will see this. Do you want to send a paper from hotsex@bu.edu? (Just an example)
I recommend you keep it simple-- first initial + last name, or full name if it's short, or last name only if it's unusual.

how many letter can be in your user name?

i think it's 8.

and just like kinshasa said, your professors and classmates will be seeing your email address. i doubt anyone chooses something like hotsex, but some have put unprofessional words like "lil" and "angel" in their names.

i'm still waiting to find someone with "arfdoggie" or something.

But...does anyone know how long time elapses between your enrollment deposit and the email to setup your email?

Relax. They'll process the stuff as it goes. People take the info and set it up. You may get yours a day or two before or after someone you know, etc.

Letter from BU office of admissions:

Welcome to Boston University! Information about setting up your Boston University email account will be sent out in May. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact our office.

Sincerely,

I participated in one of the BU summer programs last year in which we setup email/internet usernames in order to access BU internet and such.

I have absolutely no idea what my username or password were.. does that matter at all that I'm technically in the system, or was at one point?

Random guess but most likely not. I'm pretty sure they'd delete your summer account, seeing as it was probably temporary...

-The Temporary Coot66

The summer ACS account (which you used to log into your email) was deleted...but you can still use that same username and password to log onto the BU student link
