i'm currently a freshman with the 14+ plan. it's 14 meals a week.. and it resets friday morning. one thing that sucks about it is that each day, you can only go into a dining hall once per breakfast, lunch, or dinner. breakfast is 7am-11am, lunch 11am-5pm, dinner 5pm-8pm (except it's 5pm-7pm on fri and sat). so if you ate lunch at 12 pm and at 4 you're hungry again, you'll have to wait until 5. (unless you use one of your 10 guest meals per semester. or you can also go to the George Sherman Union aka GSU and spend some of your dining points. what's offered at the GSU: http://www.bu.edu/dbin/dining/unioncourt.php) i'm not sure if the same thing goes for the 250 and 330 plans.

at home, i used to eat whenever i was hungry. but at BU, my meals are more organized. i consistently eat 2 meals a day on weekdays.. lunch and dinner. and then on weekends if i wake up really late, i eat just dinner. on average, i eat 12 or 13 meals a week.. so the 14+ has worked really well for me. and the $200 dining points per semester is just enough for an occasional meal at the GSU or LateNite, which is what all the dining halls convert into after dinner hours. LateNite offers chicken strips, fries, quesadillas, sandwiches, stir fry stuff, smoothies, chips, etc.

with 9+ and 14+, it's easier to keep track of your meals and kinda stay on schedule. plus, on wednesdays and thursdays, if you know you haven't used that many meals, you can treat yourself to a random meal in the morning or something. (i've used meals for walking through the west dining hall when it's bad weather outside.. haha) with the 250 or 330, each meal becomes more valuable.. personally, i would be conserving them too much.. especially at the beginning of the year. but then, i'd also have a lot more dining points.

so it really depends on your eating habits. take a guess which one works the best for you. you have something like a month from the start of the year to change your dining plan anyway.

as for food quality.. BU is a LOT better than most colleges. food choices rotate every day, even though it's basically the same 12 or so items all the time. to some people, it gets boring and repetitive every once in a while. i never had a problem.. i eat anything. about twice a month, the dining halls have themes nights.. like indian cuisine, thai, western bbq, or diner foods. plus, there's plenty of non-BU restaurants on campus.. and there's always downtown boston for treating yourself on weekends.
