I got into BU's School of Management and I also got into UBuffalo's School of Management. I do not qualify for any aid cause my EFC is high. But if my EFC is so high, how come my family cannot afford my college education? I have to take out loans for college...just wanna know if its worth taking out loans for BU and being about $200,000 in debt after college..or take out a loan for UBuffalo and be about $40,000 in debt after college...Is it worth goin to BU? I don't know what to do...i need some help... are there loans where the interest starts to add up AFTER i graduate? HELP!!!

JAhmed: If you really have to take out 100% loan, then first talk to BU fin-aid office and see if they have overlooked something. Very low chance, but worth the shot.

Next, I personally do not think that having a debt of $200 K is worth the degree from BU. You will never recover that kind of money back. Save the money, go to Buffalo, work for a year or two, then go for an MBA.

I know many of my friends who have high efc and their families will literally have to live on the sidewalk bench to pay off their college tuition. If you don't qualify for financial aid, then you'll probably wouldn't qualify for the subsidized loans where students start to pay interests after their graduation. There's the Family Plus Loan where your parents help pay for you but I'm not quite sure about the interest status on that.

UBuffalo is pretty decent for business. If you go through their website and see the "notable alumni" people who graduated from there, the CEO of Coca Cola graduated from there along with other CEO's.

In terms of prestige, BU is obviously superior and although they are highly recoginzed for their business program, do you feel your future job would actually pay off the 200K debt? Is it worth it to pay your debt even when you're 60 years old? Money is a big issue in the college process. You should thoroughly discuss it with your parents before you send in your enrollment deposit.

Oh btwn, I got into UBuffalo too but I'm doing pre-pharm. They gave me practically a full package but my parents won't let me go cuz it's so far away. (I'm from New York City)

Good luck with your choice!

im from NYC too...and i think i am going to buffalo...BU is great...but not 200,000 worth...thanks alot guys

I dont think the difference between binghamton and buffalo is worth $160,000

not binghamton..BU = Boston University
