My S was just accepted off the wait list at BU. We are all overjoyed and excited. Does anyone know about orientation? When is it?

High five chinablue! I just got admitted as well! I can understand the great excitement and joy! Although, I don’t know what orientation you are referring to =X

Congrats!

Oh, I was just thinking that there are programs to get students acclimated. There is reference to a Wednesday thru Friday orientation in a previous BU thread, but I don’t know any dates. We are just so excited that we can’t wait to hear from the admissions office.

Congrats to you Alectricity!

Duh… I just googled it. BU has a whole website on orientation.

[Welcome to Boston University’s Orientation Website](Orientation)

There are a number of recent threads about orientation.

you have to sign up for one to kinda get feel for the campus, sign up for classes, get to know some of your future classmates and whatnot. i suggest going to the earlier ones for a better WR100 section, but yeah - there are tons of orientation threads.

howd you guys find out you got off the waitlist?

My S got a phone call and it was followed up by an email. We have four days to respond and they will not give us information about financial aid until after we accept. BU has everything my S wants. He is going to accept as soon as the admissions office is open on Monday.

oh wow that’s cool that you got a phone call hahah! I only got an e-mail but it works either way I’m going to call to accept on Monday as well :]

Congrats! Congrats!

Congrats! But…why don’t they tell you more about your financial aid package? So if you accept and they give you little your stuck with $40k in loans?

I don’t think they intend for you to be thousands of dollars in debt. It’s just that they don’t want to offer you money if they aren’t even sure you’ll come. This could also be due to the fact that some people may have already settled on another college since most SIRs were due May 1st. It could have been a possibility that BU may not have accepted their waitlistees until late May early June. This year was especially tight on money so I guess it’s reasonable no?

Congratulations!
