BU School of Management Chances (Trustee Scholarship too)

Hey, thanks for clicking on my post my post!

I am applying early decision to the School of Management at Boston University this fall. I will also be applying for the Trustee Scholarship.

My stats:

3.8 unweighted GPA
SAT - 2000 (720 math/660 reading/620 writing)
I know my scores are a little low, but I will be trying to up the, this fall
APs - Calc, Chem, Literature (rest are honors)
Student Council member
NHS member
Consistent volunteer at local youth center
11 varsity letters (4 lacrosse and alpine skiing, 3 football)
Senior captain for all 3 sports
Rotary Youth Leadership Award recipient and counselor following year
National Leadership Conference attendee (Business & Entrepreneurship)
Have held a job at a restaurant for 2.5 years (work 6 hours a week during school and 25 during summer)
I believe my essay is particularly strong (still a work in progress), am holding off on writing my Trustee Scholarship essay until I get my decision

Side notes about showing interest:

Toured and Admissions session this past summer (going back in October)
Have an interview scheduled for this September (have been exchanging emails with my admissions officer)

Opinions and views from current students. Tell me about your campus experience too! Also if anybody could share some insight about the Trustee Scholarship, from what I understand about half of those offered the scholarship have 2300+ SATSs. While the others have sub 2100 but are stand out people that will make the school a good place.

Any help is much appreciated!

Your stats and EC’s would make admission to BU most likely. However they would only be slightly above average for admitted students.

The Trustee scholarships are given to the top 2 or 3 percent of admitted students.

If your raise your SAT a bit, you’ll have a VERY strong chance of getting into the school of management.

Because the Trustee scholarships are only awarded to the top 2-3% of admitted applicants, you may not get it, as many of those students will have 2100+ SAT scores and 3.9+ GPAs. But still shoot for it! :)

BU SMG: Match

From my knowledge of BU, a 2000 SAT score is not low. Now if you want to be considered for the Trustee scholarships, I would suggest aiming for a 2200+ SAT, not a 2100 as others say. The top 2.8% of applicants have a 2200 or above, whereas 7.2% of apps have at least a 2100 and 16.3% have a 2000+. Note that these numbers reflect those who APPLY and not those who are admitted. Big difference.

In any case, your 3.8 will also easily carry you towards your goal of acceptance at BU SMG. Although BU’s admission rate has dropped from 49% to 36% over the past two or so years, I honestly believe that applying early decision will make this school a LOW MATCH for you. If you hadn’t already had your mind set on BU and your interview laid out, I would have suggested to take the SATs again in September/October, hope for a 2100-2150+, and apply to NYU Stern ED. However, BU’s School of Management is quite competitive as well, and I wish you all the best of luck.

^I concur 100%

Thanks for the help! I am taking my SATs again in October and November. Only my October scores can np be considered for admission (along with past scores if I have to superscore), however I can use my November scores to help my chances for the trustee scholarship, so said my admissions officer.

I am open for some suggestions as to why I should consider Stern, if you wouldn’t mind helping!

If anybody happens to read this post down here…I also wanted to know what people think my chances are at receiving the Presidential Scholarship, which anyone who applies by November 1st is eligible for
