Chance Me:)

Hey, thanks for clicking on my post my post!

I am applying early decision to the School of Management at Boston University this fall. I will also be applying for the Trustee Scholarship.

My stats:

3.8 unweighted GPA

SAT - 2000 (720 math/660 reading/620 writing)

I know my scores are a little low, but I will be trying to up the, this fall

APs - Calc, Chem, Literature (rest are honors)

Student Council member

NHS member

Consistent volunteer at local youth center

11 varsity letters (4 lacrosse and alpine skiing, 3 football)

Senior captain for all 3 sports

Rotary Youth Leadership Award recipient and counselor following year

National Leadership Conference attendee (Business & Entrepreneurship)

Have held a job at a restaurant for 2.5 years (work 6 hours a week during school and 25 during summer)

I believe my essay is particularly strong (still a work in progress), am holding off on writing my Trustee Scholarship essay until I get my decision

Side notes about showing interest:

Toured and Admissions session this past summer (going back in October)

Have an interview scheduled for this September (have been exchanging emails with my admissions officer)

Opinions and views from current students. Tell me about your campus experience too! Also if anybody could share some insight about the Trustee Scholarship, from what I understand about half of those offered the scholarship have 2300+ SATSs. While the others have sub 2100 but are stand out people that will make the school a good place.

Any help is much appreciated!

You’ll most likely get in, but getting the trustee scholarship will be more difficult. They are only given to the top students. However, there are other scholarships that are given out that you could possibly get.

I just graduated from BU this past May and loved it. I don’t know what exactly you want to know regarding campus experience, but Boston is a great city and the campus is right in the heart of it all. If you have any specific questions, I’d be happy to answer them.

Just wondering… how did you schedule an interview? I thought that BU doesn’t give out interviews… or is that for specific applicants?

Your chances to get in are extremely strong as BU is selective, but not the most selective. I honestly think your SATs will suffice and you should get in no problem. Just make sure that essay for the scholarship is top notch.

I had been emailing my region’s admissions officer and he told me he would be hosting interviews when he came to my area. I feel pretty comfortable with my SATs to get in but I wan to up them to for better chances of getting the scholarship.

Hopeful-could you just tell me about campus life and events, and regular day to day life? Also where did you live freshman year? And what school did you go to?

Thanks for the help!

I went to Sargent (the health sciences college) and I loved it because it’s a lot smaller than some of the others. I was involved with a few student groups within my school including student council. There’s so many clubs and activities for just about anyone with any interest.

It’s hard to describe my every day to day life because each day was so different! My last two years I lived in an off campus apartment right near Fenway so that was obviously a lot different than living in a dorm. BU is a hard school—you need to work for your grades even in SMG. But in the free time that you have, there’s just so much to do either on campus or in the city. It’s not a typical college campus though, but you know that since you visited. They have a lot of events freshman year that you can go to so you can meet people, but most people either become friends with people they live with in their dorm, or their classmates. BU is huge, but everyone can find their niche.

I lived in Towers my freshman year. It’s a good dorm but it’s one of the quieter ones. If you want a more social dorm I’d choose Warren or West.

I think you have a good shot. Wish i had your GPA
