BU transfer question

Hi - BU is $75k a year - takes $150 gross wages to afford - is it really worth it for a bio major pre med track who is considering transfer from small college but more than capable of work and managing the new environment

If you are full pay and would need major loans then BU is not worth it.

No loans parents would finance and I would do work study - hopefully to bring cost down. Why do you think school not worth it with all research opportunities and endowments they have

Can your parents also pay for medical school without loans? What is your home state flagship? Most would have research opportunities too. An endowment does not help much if you are full pay. Your full pay tuition is helping to subsidize lower income students, it doesn’t come from the endowment.

Oh ok that’s helpful. Thank you Though seems like BU has one of the best to fast track into their medical program

Were you admitted to the MMEDIC program? That is the only “fast track” program available.

No was not. But don’t students have better change of getting into med school like Boston University or NYU if they are at a school like BU? Did you go to BU

Not really.

Yes but grad school.

Ok thx. So you think someone going to small private school like Marist College where I go with very good scholarship makes sense to stay

It’s mostly your GPA, MCAT score and medical related activities. Also I would not call Marist “small”.

I meant compared to BU. Is there a way to find out how many students from the school go to BU medical college? Thx

BU does not indicate number of BU undergrads admitted.

It would be skewed by BU undergrads admitted through the 7 year BA/MD and MMEDIC options.

@1Mets99 May be better to consider staying at Marist with all the new healthcare initiatives going on. Unless you prefer city living.
