BU Transfer Students

This is really frustrating

I’m going through the northeastern business as well

anybody know whether BU awards decent financial aid packages to transfer students?

I’m not so sure about BU’s financial aid, but I don’t think it’s amazing.

Also, do they mail the decisions to your house, or do they use the BU Web Account for their decisions like they do for freshman applicants?

Hey guys

Gah! I’m going crazy! I made the choice to transfer a week too late! And now I have to submit my application late. I’m trying to get it out by tomorrow, but it will still be a week late. The supplement went through on the common app which is unusual because I thought they would stop it as it was late. I know I won’t be given priority but does anyone know if they will simply not accept it?

best thing you can do is call the school and ask… some schools accept applications after the deadline but are considered on a “space-available” basis

I think your acceptance depends on how competitive your application is

If you’re in the middle or on the lower spectrum, academically, then the students they usually accept… I assume it might be hard for you to gain admission

but if you have a very competitive application… maybe you still have a chance… despite your late application…

call and ask… before you give them 70 bucks

I am almost entirely sure the decision will be on your BU web account. They say they will email you when the decision is ready.

I hope BU is much more generous with aid (and that I get accepted!) Northeastern asked for proof that both my parents were unemployed and then only gave me 10k in merit and 10k in loans. Kind of like a punch in the stomach.

Thanks guys! Called the office and they were really nice about it (especially because I’ve applied before and gotten in so all my stuff is on file) and I submitted the common app and supplement today and the payment and they have already downloaded them, so yay. I’m having high hopes.

But, I’m applying to the business school, which I know is really hard.

My GPA is 3.92 and my ACT was 31, but I’m gonna have to hope that my reccs were really really great.

@womanofmanyhats

Do they only know that you were accepted already before because you called them and they looked, or do you know if they look for other applicants? I was accepted before too, and I think that might help me out since my first year grades aren’t the best.

@LongIslandMax,

On the application, there is a box that you check that asks whether or not you have applied to BU before. I actually believe BU asks that you wait a full academic year before applying again if you were rejected or accepted and did not attend. But, not sure how much they follow that, I just think it is a guideline.

But to answer your question, I asked them whether or not my ACT scores were still there because I had already applied and they said yes. That was the extent to our conversation about my previous applications to BU. Sorry.

Thankssss that helps actually. I do remember checking that off. I guess they might check to see if they rejected/accepted someone who checks off that box to help their decision. But maybe not, who knows.

This wait is just killing me haha.

Hey guys,

I applied after the deadline so this might be different for me, but I was just wondering how long after you submitted everything on your common app did you receive your BU Applicant Link?

I submitted the supplement on the 16th and received the email with the Applicant Link the day after. However, I don’t think my Applicant Link is up-to-date as I am still missing a document that was sent to them over 3 weeks ago. Did anyone else have this problem? I emailed them to ask about it and they just said that things are moving slower as it’s within a month of the deadline but it’s still making me anxious!

mpl, I wouldn’t worry. I was there today and they sent everything was there except for the College Official’s Report, which is on the way. But, on the Applicant Link it says that it is missing the College Transcript… but not the College Official’s Report… So yeah, I’d say they are a little behind on things :)

Yeah, the same thing happened with me. It said I was missing everything except for my college transcripts, even though I sent them all at the same time more than a month ago. I even called them asking if I was actually missing it, or if they just haven’t updated my profile, and they said it was all still missing. Literally the next day, my applicant link said my application was complete and that they ahd everything.

I would be so excited to join this thread. It seems weird that finding a BU transfer thread is hard, maybe because decision is not coming out this month. I’ve a problem in my BU link, saying that SAT is still required. However, I’ve more than 60 credits, and SAT should be exempted. Would the admission office reivew my application with the SAT requirement on my status?

I thought that SAT scores were required regardless of credits? The BU website says: Your application will not be considered complete until we have received official score reports directly from the College Board or ACT, even if your scores are recorded on your high school transcript.

Yeah, mpl, you are right.

SAT scores are required no matter how many credits you have for BU.

Sorry, Jade.

BU is ridiculous with their status check. I wish they would just show us what they have received in a list form. For almost 3 months they said that I was missing my Official College Report because the first one I had submitted was incomplete (my stupid college can’t even fill out a form correctly) and the second one didn’t register correctly because now there were two official reports in their system. Finally when I called again, they said that they were missing a college report from a college that I had apparently attended when I was in high school…because that makes a lot of sense right? All in all, if you think something is wrong or if they are giving you unclear answers, keep calling after some time and make sure your application says it is complete!

P.S. I am totally having nightmares about this wait T_T

I had just request my SAT score to be sent last week. Honestly, I think I made a mistake for sending the report. I don’t think there is anyway for BU to track my SAT history, and I’m not from a US high school, hence SAT is not on record. i tried to call them, and when they asked, I told them honestly I had taken SAT before. Now as I think, no school I apply know what test I’ve taken before, and it’s not a requirement for those like me, not having high school in US, and have 60 credits…I shouldn’t ve sent my score.

To give you guys some idea why I refuse to send score,

SAT
CR: 430
Math:650
Writing: 370

Chemistry: 650
Physics: 630
Math II : 590

I’m sure you guys understand my situation now. But personally I don’t think my SAT score is too horrible. Can you imagine my first time seeing a SAT test is during the test? For all the subjects. But I missed to explain that on my BU application.

Between, do you guys think I could write an email to explain my situation about my bad SAT scores at this late?

Are you an international student? If so, I believe you can send in TOEFL scores and that would clarify your low writing and possibly CR scores.

However, if you are a US student, the SAT is required.

At this point, it may be too late, as the deadline has passed. Also, writing to BU saying that you had never seen a SAT before will not exempt you from submitting the scores. You could have very well prepared for it or even retaken it in hopes of doing better. Sorry to be harsh, but no school will sympathize over that.
