My current top two choices are Boston University and New York University, but Northeastern is a close third.
Background info: I was admitted into their colleges of arts and sciences for computer science. I plan on going to grad school and possibly studying abroad in China sometime. Money is not a big issue. I’m going to visit all three later this month.
Pros:
BU: traditional college experience, competitive cheer team, proximity to the other universities, 94% employment rate + #3 happiest students
NYU: the city, dorms, study abroad opportunities, local events and culture, arts emphasis
NEU: co-op program, Boston college area
I’m also considering UC Irvine because it’s instate and cheaper. What are your thoughts on these schools?
Money is always an issue.
What is the net cost after financial aid?
@harvardandberkeley I’m not getting any financial aid from BU or NYU, but other schools are offering scholarships, so the next cost would be the sticker price. My biggest worry (and my parents’) is which school will provide me with the best opportunities and which one I’d love being a student at more.
I don’t believe any of these schools would provide you with SIGNIFICANTLY better opportunities than the other. Each has its own pluses that may not be comparable. BU has excellent Boston connections, NEU has the co-ops which will give you career opportunities earlier, NYU is in NYC, obviously an exciting place. You can do study abroad in all of these schools. Of the three, BU offers the more “traditional” undergrad experience, although, really none are truly the classic college experience, with big time sports, a central campus that’s a magnet all most students, and a tightly knit student community. From what you say, BU may fit your personality better, so that one may be a good one to focus on.
