Hello,
I was recently accepted to Bucknell. I’m really considering attending here as its Bio program seems really good, its class size seems the perfect fit for me, and they offered me some good financial aid and a position as an arts merit scholar. Can any current students/alumni/parents of students offer me some insight on what social life is and how diverse it is? I have heard stereotypes that it is mostly upper class preppy and that most students drink and are involved in greek life. I was unfortunately unable to attend the admitted student open house so I wasn’t able to determine if these stereotypes are true. Is Bucknell diverse, or is it homogenous? Would I feel left out if I don’t drink, party, or join a fraternity? Please be as honest as you can. I still have some other great options so it won’t be a big deal if I don’t end up attending.
Thanks!
@gq2016 Hey, I’m a current student here at Bucknell and while I can attest to the prevelance of affluent preppy kids, there are definiltly people from all different backgrounds here. You may have to look harder to find them, but they’re here. As far as Greek life is concerned, you can’t rush until sophomore year so incoming first years are able to find their niche, more or less. Hope this helps!
@ShakiraLover Thanks alot for your post! Hope you’re enjoying your year at Bucknell!
