Sounds like maybe yield protection. You sound very qualified & maybe they thought you would decline offer? It is so frustrating when colleges do that

The deadline for the Presidential Fellows Scholarship was a day after the application deadline, I believe. Our son had to submit a separate essay.

Does anyone know how hard it is to get off the waitlist?

Waitlisted

Stats:

OOS
3.7 UW GPA
3.8 Weighted
1410 SAT

hope this helps

To all people wondering how hard it is to get off Wait List: I read the accompanying information on my Wait List letter and they apparently Wait Listed 1,000/11,000 RD applicants. They DO NOT rank the Wait List they go off the availability of your major after their accepted students find out where they want to go. However l, I also read in the accompanying information that one average, 30-90 kids get off the Wait List, so I wouldn’t hold my breath.

That actually sounds like quite a few
especially in this weird year with lots of waitlisting going on and people applying to many more school than usual. I think there will be MUCH more movement than in a typical year. Can you be on more than one waitlist ? What’s the process ?

From the way the info looks, if you accepted the Wait List offer for both your majors, you’re on the Wait List for both and they can admit you into your second choice major over your first choice major if there is more room in that one

We are in the same boat and very disappointed. My son was waitlisted and we were surprised as I thought he had very good stats. 4.0/UW, 4.5/W. 5 AP classes and many honors. He played Basketball, Track, Piano, Service work, and a part time job. I hope test optional didn’t hurt him but I see others who were accepted with it. This is the first school we heard from so I’m hoping this isn’t going to be the trend.

Gosh that is brutal - seems like no clear picture of what they were looking for in most cases. Do you think they were concerned about his interest level ? Which school was he applying to ? D has very, very similar resume - GPA, APs, athletics, service etc. and applied to School of Management. Enrollment management has to be beyond tricky to get the right number of students. Wonder how many spots were filled w ED ? I truly believe there is going to be a ton of WL movement this year so hang in there !

Omg no way!!! Bucknell and Wake seem to be very similar so I am excited :)))

I was accepted! 1390 SAT / 32 ACT , 3.9 unweighted GPA, 6 AP classes / remaining honors classes, swim team for 3 years, a part of my clubs for 4 years, now president of one. applied and accepted as undecided for my major. Im still waiting to hear from other schools before I decide. Top 15% of my class. And strong recommendations.
