Building a College List

I'm a white, Male, rising senior going to a good public school in Michigan. I haven't really put a good college list together yet and would like some help creating a list of safeties, matches, and reaches.

I don't care if you recommend specific colleges or a "group" of colleges within a specific range but any help would be much appreciated.

Stats:

GPA:
3.45 unweighted, 4.05 weighted

ACT:
33 composite (34 math, 34 English, 33 reading, 29 science, 31 E/W combined, 8 writing)

Class rank:
I'm not sure if my school ranks but so far no information on class rank has been given to us. If I had to guess I'd say Top 15% but I'm really not sure.

Course load:
I've only take one AP class (Computer Science) but didn't take the exam. However, by the time I graduate I'll have taken 10+ IB classes. The majority of my classes have been .4 with a few .3s and one or two .2s (required credits).

ECs:
This is probably the weakest part of my transcript. I have played on 3 freshman sports teams, 4 JV teams ( I played JV baseball twice), 1 varsity, and will most likely play 2 varsity sports next year. I am lacking any major non-athletic leadership positions. I'm looking to join a well-ranked BPA club next year and possibly DECA if I can do both. This year I participated in a competition for JA Titan, a business simulation for Junior Achievement, after taking 1st in my class. I'm also looking to join a new Ski/Board club as well as some other clubs, possibly Key Club or Programming Club.

Thanks again.

Some of the biggest questions remaining are how much your family can afford to pay for college and what your EFC is. Nobody wants to suggest colleges you can’t afford.

Any specific majors in mind?

Right now I’m not sure about how much we can pay. Probably not too much, but I’d rather worry about expense after I know where to look.

And I was planning on majoring in a business-related field but maybe a physics-lite engineering major as well. I’ve already visited Michigan State and Supply Chain Management sounded pretty interesting, but finance wouldn’t be bad as well.

[College Search - College Confidential](http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_search/)

The two above links take you to search areas where you can input some criteria that is important to you. The more detailed your input the more precise and smaller the recommendations list. I suggest starting out with general input and then work to pare down the (probably large) list of schools.
