SAT's ( old, but I have to take the new one) : 1330

Ok, what are your reccomendations on making my resume stronger?. I feel that I am weak in my EC's. Right now I haven't picked a college. I know I won't get into Princeton, and Harvard and stuff like that. But what about John Hopkins, and anything outside of the top ten colleges?
Thanks

i'd say try and show more depth in terms of the EC's you already have...i know a lot of unis look from for depth than breadth..but you might want to consider getting involved in more things?

ur grades are strong..and with all ur APs ur showing commitment...id say keep working hard...especially in ur junior year - so important with unis...and choose ur SAT IIs wisely..are u goin to resit the SAT mroe than once?

Alright, what do you mean more depth in EC's though, more EC's or like being in a control position of like NHS? Yeah I have to tak the SAT again, I think I'll sit for it twice

Thanks

with more EC's definitely get involved in a leadership role or two...colleges look at that seriously, plus it gives you good material for a potential essay...and then maybe add a couple more ECs to show a variety of interests..depends on where you're applying..places like Columbia love a wide variety of stuff...others look more for leadership and long-term commitments...

do you have any reccomendations for clubs to join? Also, wouldn't it look bad if I just join Junior year, like i'm only doing to improve my resume?

well ok maybe if ur into music branch out into another instrument, join a band or orchestra or something...

tennis is ur only sport so maybe explore other options in that field..doesnt have to be a drastic change or something that u put as much effort into as ur tennis...but just shows diversity...

then again it really depends on ur interests....if u like public speaking, join a debating society or model un....if ur interested in writing - newspaper, yearbook, magazine.....basically something thats going to interest you, that you can talk about passionately in ur apps and that shows ur personality..

also with the junior year thing...it definitely looks better if ud been doing this stuff for ages..but it shows ur serious about commitment, regardless of ur resume, and especially in a tough year....i figure play up the ECs ur already involved in in ur essays and personal statement, etc....and then get involved in maybe some of the things i mentioned to show a range of interests...

alright thanks for the great advice

A resume isn't something that should be artificially built (getting people to tell you what you should do to increase your chances).

You should focus on EC's that you like and love... that way you will enjoy them more. Furthermore, if you do those EC's that you love, you will probably accomplish more with them in terms of getting leadership or winning awards.

Find things you like to do and focus on them, don't go around joining tons of clubs for their names.

It seems that you like Piano and Tennis.
Practice those and try to get national recognition for them, etc.

Summary: Do what you love and do them as well as you can.

Yeah I guess that makes sense too

What do you want to major in?

still unsure
I know ths sounds broad ut : engineering, or medical

cornell would be a good reach.
UIUC would be a good match for engineering
Purdue can be a safety for engineering

I dunno much about medical
